Freddie Mac Calls Manufactured Homes Crucial

(Manufactured home credit: Next Step Network)

Government-sponsored enterprise Freddie Mac is partnering with Louisville-based housing intermediary Next Step Network and three non-profit housing counseling agencies to initiate an online housing education curriculum.

According to Mortgage Professional America, the goal is to increase the number of mortgage-ready manufactured home buyers in Kentucky.

The program will team up participating buyers who have blemished credit histories with one of three HUD-approved agencies—Community Ventures Corporation in Lexington, Frontier Housing in Morehead, or In Charge Debt Solutions in Orlando.

The education curriculum is being offered through eHome America, an online homebuyer education platform, and will include homebuyer education, strengthening credit, and navigating the finance and purchase processes.

Noting that supporting access to credit and affordable lending for this segment of the housing market is an “integral part” of its mission, Freddie Mac said, “Manufactured homes are a crucial source of housing stock.”

MHProNews has learned Next Step’s mission is “putting sustainable homeownership within reach of everyone, while transforming the manufactured housing industry one home at a time,” according to their website. ##
