Florida City wants to Extend ban on Manufactured Homes

st_joe_florida__wjhg_tv_manufactured_homePort St. Joe, Florida residents are up in arms over the proposed siting of a manufactured home (MH) in their subdivision, according to whjg-tv, saying it will lower their property values. Some residents are not sure if it is an MH or modular, leading the city to put a stop work order on the building.

You’re dropping the whole neighborhood’s property value,” Local resident Lee Fontaine said. “And I don’t expect he’ll get a plate of cookies from the welcome wagon.” Port St. Joe Mayor Bo Patterson said, “What is it? Is it a mobile home? Is it a modular home?

A city ordinance prohibits a manufactured home from being sited within the city limits. City commissioners plan to create a new ordinance that bans all manufactured and modular homes inside the city.

Fonaine said he used to live in an MH and has nothing against them. “If they’re in the right place,” Fontaine said. “We worked hard to have what we have and I don’t want someone to force something down my throat to bring my property values down.

MHProNews has learned the city commissioners will discuss possible courses of action at their next meeting. ##
