FEMA Moving Manufactured Homes into two Additional West Virginia Counties

July 29th, 2016

West_VA__cnn__floodwaters_pushing_burning_home_down__a_river postedDaialyBusinessNewsMHProNewsFollowing a story MHProNews last posted July 18, 2016 regarding the devastating flooding in West Virginia and the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) attempts to find housing for the displaced, a Temporary Housing Authorization Memo was issued July 5 authorizing Greenbrier and Kanawha Counties to receive Manufactured Housing Units (MHUs).

After further investigating, MHUs will also be available for survivors in Clay and Nicholas Counties, following the June 23 flood that took 23 lives, according to register-herald.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin said, “As we strengthen the long-term recovery process and West Virginians rebuild their lives, we are continuously working with FEMA to address immediate needs. The availability of Manufactured Housing Units in Clay and Nicholas counties fills a critical void in those areas for temporary housing for those who have been displaced as more permanent solutions are determined.”

Meanwhile state health officials, with the assistance of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, armed with 10,000 tetanus vaccines, plan to randomly survey households in Greenbrier and Kanawha Counties to determine health conditions and ask families if they are aware of resources available to them. ##
