FEMA Homes Restricted in Another Alabama Community

Alabama’s 13 says Cordova is not the only city in Alabama hit by the April 27 tornado that does not allow manufactured housing outside an existing community of factory-built homes.  Fultondale, just outside Birmingham, has a similar ordinance that Mayor Jim Lowrey says will be enforced, while adding the city will help the 80 families displaced find housing if needed.  Lowery says the lots in the area most damaged by the storms are not large enough to accommodate a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) home, and that the 100 Oaks community has six available home sites.  Renee Bafalis of FEMA confirms that no requests have come from Jefferson County, and that “the housing has been taken care of through rental and other means.”
