English Teenager Buys Manufactured Housing Community

teen-buys-mh-parkA teen entrepreneur is following in his father’s footsteps by taking ownership of a manufactured housing community.  Alfie Best, Jr, 17, has purchased a site in Crays Hill for a six-figure sum, becoming the youngest manufactured home community owner in the UK.

Alfie is the son of Alfie Best, Sr., owner of 41 communities across the UK, who last year bought the Rare Cow steak house chain. The family gained public attention in Channel 4’s Big Fat Gypsy Wedding series.

Echo News tells MHProNews that Alfie, Jr. had previously been the youngest owner of a nightclub when he bought a venue in Hertfordshire, but he sold the club, as well as his favorite Porsche car, to fund the purchase of the Crays Hill site.

The teenage businessman said, “I’m absolutely delighted. I hope this will be the first of many. I suppose you could call me a chip off the old block. I am following in my father’s footsteps, but making my own path. I had to borrow a shedload of money from the bank, but they know I am a good investment.”

Alfie, Jr. already runs Blockbuster Drains, a drainage company based in West Thurrock and has his eyes set on more manufactured home sites. He said: “I’m proud of myself. I’ve been told I am by far the youngest owner of any manufactured home park in the country, so this is a great start.”

He said that “There are 20 lovely homes in Crays Hill Park, and I’ve already met most of the residents and have received a warm welcome. I look forward to working with them all.”

Alfie, Sr. is the chairman and founder of Wyldecrest Parks, a group of 33 manufactured home communities, valued at about £100 million. The self-taught entrepreneur was raised in a Romany Gypsy family and started his career by buying and selling commercial vans. ##
