Disruptive Intelligence

The status quo is unsustainable. Hold that thought, and we will return to it.

Certain whispers can be heard louder than some shouts..

Imagine the following. You are walking in a park, your favorite beach, or through some woods. You are in nature. As you walk, you spy in the grass, shrub or sand a wrist watch.  Do you suppose that watch created itself, right there, on the spot? Or rather, do you deduce that some person dropped the watch there?

Intelligent design is present in that watch; human intelligence. Human intellect is evident in every car, cell phone, computer, clothing, or housing type – including factory-built housing – that you consider.

One could deny that intelligence, but would that denial change reality?  Of course not. Someone could come up with an unproven theory that a force of nature created that watch there. Would that theory alone prove what common sense denies? Of course not.

When one looks at nature, it reflects intelligence, just as that watch, car or cell phone does.

There are laws in nature, like the law of gravity. Deny gravity if you wish, but don’t step off the ledge of a tall building, cliff or bridge. The denial doesn’t change reality.

In any human society, a law presupposes a law maker.  What about in nature?  Does a law, like gravity, presuppose an unseen law giver?

If someone blows up a brand new printshop – a shop where the first order has not yet been placed, and the first printing job has yet start – does an explosion there result in an unabridged dictionary? Of course not. Explosions beget chaos and destruction, rather than the order and intelligence that a dictionary represents.

Using that same principle, when the big bang – in theory – established the universe, why do we see order instead of chaos?  Once understood, our solar system or others reflects design, not chaos or mere debris. The planets follow a certain orbit, governed in part by unseen laws like gravity.

The unseen can be just as real as what is seen.  Love, thought, loyalty or honor – these are all unseen…

Acorns come from oak trees, and oak trees come from acorns. So which came first? What about the chicken or the egg, which came first? These examples suggest that some outside intelligent force created that first acorn, egg, chicken or oak tree.

These thoughts are not new, rather, they are ancient. They were among the ways that humans in societies around the globe came to understand that there is an unseen, intelligent Creator. That Creator revealed much first by his handiwork, but also by inspiring a few to write divine truth.

In the Good Book, it poetically says it like this:

The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Day after day they pour forth speech;

night after night they reveal knowledge.

They [the stars, planets and creation] have no speech, they use no words;

no sound is heard from them.

Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,

their words to the ends of the world. (Psalm 19, 1-4, NIV).

Deny it or embrace it, but the logic of belief in a Creator – the reasonableness of true faith – is demonstrably stronger than the unproven theories of the disbelievers, skeptics or faithless.  What is unseen can be real.

The Status Quo, and Unsustainable Evil

The status quo in much of Western society is demonstrably unsustainable. When the guidance offered by ten simple divine commandments are lost or dismissed, then any excuse for betraying your neighbor or a stranger can be justified by faux reasoning.

We humans need the Creator’s wise laws, those Ten Commandments, much like the plants in nature thirst for rain.

God created a moral universe, where people can choose between right and wrong. Want more good in the world, and less evil?  Learn, teach and live those 10 commandments as best you can. Right or wrong are best understood as defined – not by the whims of mere humans – but rather by the Creator who designed us, and knows our strengths or weaknesses best.

Good parents give guidance to their children. Are we really going to wonder if a good God failed to give us sound guidance too?

Piling thousands upon thousands of human laws upon prior laws, – have those piles of laws made our society, or any in the western world – perfectly safe?

That doesn’t mean we should do away with laws.  But rather, it means that human laws must be modeled on the eternal wisdom of divine law.  Sometimes, less is more.

If a human law violates a divine edict, that “human law” ought to be questioned, and rejected.

Now place all of that in the back of your mind.

Consider the following.

Human laws ought to be based upon true justice, protecting the rights of the individual, modeled on divine law.

The USA isn’t prefect, and never has been, but that doesn’t mean that other lands or systems are necessarily better.

The founders who signed that Declaration of Independence that we celebrated 18 days ago, created after their successful revolution, a Republic. Let’s rephrase that for clarity. The founders of America gave us not a democracy, but a republic. There are democratic elements to the Republic, but there are important distinctions too.

In a ‘pure democracy,’ the majority alone rules. What that means in practice is that whoever whips up the biggest mob, has the power.  Do you want mob rule?

By contrast, when one says, “I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it [the flag] stands. One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” That pledge sums up an ideal to be strived for, that therein we discover individual liberty. The pledge serves to reminds us that what we have in the USA is a republic.

In much of the first several thousands of years of human history, the individual was the pawn of whoever had the most brute power. Power came in terms of muscle, armament for combat, created the money or laws to favor one group over another, and so on.

A republic has basic principles – its rooted in the “things” or laws of the people. The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights limit the government, and not “We, the People.”  Those limits on government are designed to protect people from being oppressed by those who may control the government. The Declaration protects “Life, Liberty, and Property” (see link for more details).

If those limits on government power are weakened, then individuals or groups – using money and/or coercive power – can control and dominate others.

If the fruit of your labors are unjustly taken by a criminal, or unjustly taken by a government, which is worse? Aren’t both of those unjust takings to be avoided?

The founders of America thought so.  The founders believed that both a criminal or a rogue government were to be avoided,  so thought those practical scholars of free enterprise, law, and history.

Fast forward from July, 4, 1776 through 242 years of U.S. and world history to today.

When people forget or never properly learned:

  • who we are,
  • where we came from,
  • and how we came to be,
  • then all manner of mischief can occur.

We are created in the Divine image, but that doesn’t make us omnipotent, omniscient, nor omnipresent. We are sons and daughters of God, and like any child, we must learn. The Creator gave us the ability to choose right from wrong, and then told us those ten ways – those Ten Commandments – that help us determine with confidence right from wrong.

America is under assault, from outside and within. Cyber attacks come from around the globe. A computer can get hacked in your home, office, or at the DNC headquarters in Washington, D.C.  There are armed conflicts, and crime, around the world.

Then there are those in America who now openly push for socialism. “Free stuff.” Pardon me, but who’s tax dollars are going to pay for that stuff? There is no magic money that falls from the skies. So those who falsely promise free things are liars trying to ‘buy’ votes.  How does any of that work in practice?  Click here later on to learn more.

In Venezuela, people are losing weight, as hunger spreads.  In that country – which before the socialists came to power about 10 years ago was one of the more prosperous in Latin America. Now, a decade of socialism in Venezuela has created shortages of products, services and growing starvation.

If socialism worked, why do Cubans drive 60 year old cars? Why does the North Korean version of socialistic communism leave their people poor, while across the DMZ in South Korea, their more free enterprise based nation is far more prosperous?  Why did Russia or China leave pure socialism, if those systems worked so well? Socialism is a lie, period. “Universal basic income” – a sinister term used as a way of introducing socialism – was tested in Finland, and failed.

Much of the world’s problems have come from totalitarian regimes, which in the last 100 years have been socialistic or communistic.

There are liars who count on the ignorance of some in order to manipulate others.  Ignorance of history – or any other truth – makes people vulnerable to manipulation.

That ignorance and the social consequences of ignorance can’t be sustained.  But the good news is that ignorance can be cured. That’s done by pushing out the bad with good information.

That’s why for years – with the support of intelligent voices, and thoughtful sponsors – we’ve tried to teach hear the truth about our industry – and our society – as best we can.  We do so based upon the evidence then known. If new evidence arises, we adopt to that, and explain it as best we can.

The status quo or rising lies of power grabbers – who often use some claim of free stuff or other socialistic principles – can’t be sustained.

Ignorance about what makes America the land of opportunity can’t be forgotten, overlooked, or never taught.  Opportunity is earned.

In a just society, within the principles of the divine law, our factory-built-home industry should be able to produce and sell good homes for honest people. People ought to have the right to own, buy, or lease-land to place those good homes on. Their neighbors should not have the ability to stop another from safely installing a properly inspected HUD Code manufactured home on that owned or leased land.

Few things are as important as affordable homes, that people can truly own.  The ability to own instead of rent-for-life is a stepping stone for wealth creation.  Honestly obtaining food, clothing, transportation, and affordable, quality shelter – these are bedrocks for equal justice under law.  These are foundations for a good human society.

Those principles must be supported by reasonable laws, grounded in divine law.

Access to affordable housing in the form of modern manufactured homes is not only reasonable, it is also federal law. That’s the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act (MHIA) of 2000, and it’s enhanced preemption clause. Rephrased, that good existing law should be enforced.
