Developer wants to Close Manufactured Housing Community

rezoning_bing_imagesA request to change zoning from manufactured housing to light industrial in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, forcing the closing of Rolling Hills Mobile Home Park and displacing the residents of the 33 homes was put on hold by the county commissioners until the Sept. 22 meeting. The owner of the property, Marty Rivers, did not disclose what kind of businesses might use the 58.34 acres, according to sapulpaherald.com, leading nearby residents to voice concerns about potential industrial noise, heavy commercial traffic and other issues that may affect property values. Residents of Rolling Hills would have 60 days to vacate the manufactured housing community (MHC) should the rezoning go through. Noting the need for a traffic study to be conducted in advance of rezoning, Commissioner Rick Stewart says the county does not have money for a traffic study, and that plans for the redevelopment were too sketchy. Rivers pleaded with the commissioners to approve the zoning change, saying he would pay for the traffic study and meet with area residents in the interim. MHProNews has learned Sapulpa is just southwest of Tulsa. ##
