Design Flaw or Cost Overruns: Forest City Ratner versus Skanska

forest_city_ratner's_pacific_park____mark_lennihan__AP_photoUpdating a post MHProNews last published Sept. 19, 2014 regarding the continuing saga in New York over the stalled 32-story modular apartment complex between developer Forest City Ratner and builder Skanska, construction is idled while counter lawsuits remain in the courts. According to nydailynews.com, Ratner cannot proceed with another contractor because Skanska owns a stake in the project as well as the factory where the modules are made. Skanska says there are design flaws; Ratner says Skanska is trying to obtain leverage for a better deal. Ten floors of the project, now called Pacific Park, are completed, but it is unclear if, and when, the world’s largest proposed modular building will be finished. MHProNews understands future, large-scale modular housing proposals may be at risk if indeed there is a design flaw. ##
