In Calhoun County, where he is also wanted for failure to appear in court, Sheriff Thomas Summers says, “I’m pleased with his arrest because it looks like he’s been taking a lot of people’s money.” Three years ago a Newberry woman paid a man named Tony Brown $5,000 for a manufactured home that was never delivered. She hired a private detective who discovered Colter, of Neeses, SC was using a fake name. After confronting him, he quit returning her calls. In other scenarios he allegedly took deposit money for manufactured homes that were never delivered and quit returning calls. A fraudulent check charge is pending against him in Richland County.
