Completion of Modular Homes in Ballymun Set for mid-January

January 6th, 2016

Dublin_protesters__homeless_modular_housing_ballymun__rte_dot_ei__creditFollowing the on-again, off-again development of modular homes to house the homeless at a variety of locations in Dublin, Ireland, as MHProNews last reported Dec. 18, 2015, the plan to have 22 modular homes ready by Christmas on Balbutcher Lane in the Ballymun district was stalled for a week by protesters. Inclement weather further halted preparation of the site, and then physical threats from masked thugs to burn the contractor’s equipment again brought the development to a stop.

The protesters claimed the property had been designated in support of the CTSL co-op for 40 homes in the same area, according to irishtimes. Following a site meeting on Jan. 6, 2016, the contractor informed the Dublin City Council that an updated schedule will provide for the 22 homes to be completed by mid-January. ##
