Community Owner at Odds with Residents

wickedlocal reports from South Plymouth, Massachusetts in the southeastern part of the state near Cape Cod Bay, residents at Long Pond Village are disgruntled because they have been unable to use the clubhouse for six months, where they used to have bingo, lectures, and other events. “Other events” evidently includes homeowner association meetings where residents shared complaints about the 55-plus community, and as the complaints began to grow, according to residents, community owner Richard Nieboer took out a building permit to make repairs and closed the clubhouse until the renovations are complete. MHProNews has learned Town Hall says the work has been completed, but Nieboer says inspection by the city has slowed the re-opening. One of the complaints involved leases signed at move-in allowed for a five percent annual increase, different than leases originally shown to prospects. At a recent meeting between the association’s attorney and Nieboer and his attorney, Nieboer agreed to freeze lease increases.
