Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report – Clayton buys site builder, Oakwood Homes

In a press release via PRNewswire, Clayton Properties Group, a division of Clayton, a Berkshire Hathaway company tells that they’ve purchased Oakwood Homes.

The release described the acquired company this way, “Oakwood Homes, Colorado’s largest privately held homebuilder* and community developer, and the approximately 18,000 lots it owns and controls…”

The deal reportedly closed on July 3rd.

This makes the 4th – and largest to date – acquisition by Clayton of a conventional home building company.

Clayton is the largest builder in the manufactured housing industry, and is part of Berkshire Hathaway. A recent media report on Warren Buffett is linked here.

MHProNews plans a more detailed report on this in the days ahead. Stay tuned.
