City is Developing Manufactured Home Community Co-op

March 26th, 2015

mhc_westwood_village_cooperative__plymouth_mass______greg_derr_patriotledgerA manufactured home community co-operative may be in the works for Wahpeton, North Dakota, according to a feasibility study read to the Wahpeton Finance Committee by Wahpeton Economic Development Director Jane Priebe.

The town’s Economic Development Commission would develop the project after receiving financial support from a series of partners before turning it over to the cooperative. The planned site would support 15-18 manufactured homes, as wahpetondailynews informs MHProNews.

Potential homesites at the West Briarwood location have to be cleared of trees and debris at a cost of $16,000, and Ackerman Land Surveying estimated $8,116 to come up with a drainage plan. In the report Kelly Viken of Homark Homes states a three-bedroom, two-bath manufactured home with skirting and frost footing would cost $92,000 to $93,000.

A motion was carried to allocate $25,000 for the clearing, platting and drainage expenses. Priebe said she will do more research into the plan, and if anyone is interested in co-operative manufactured housing to contact her at Wahpeton City Hall. The city is in east central ND on the Minnesota border. ##
