Brooklyn’s B2 Modular Tower to Resume Minus Modular

Forest City had accused Skanska of cost overruns, while Skanska leveled charges of design flaws. That dispute remains in court. Only one of the 16 modular units was completed.

Forest City CEO and President MaryAnne Gilmartin announced work will resume with Greenland USA, a subsidiary of the Chinese firm, Greenland Holding Group, but the remaining 15 towers will likely be completed utilizing traditional construction methods instead of modular building. The new name is Greenland Forest City Partners. Gillmartin described modular as “an ongoing experiment” and hopes to use it again in Pacific Park. ##
