Borough Establishes Regulations for Siting of Manufactured Homes

Code Enforcement Officer Joe Kercenneck discovered a multi-section home in town has a manufacturers seal of approval, but it does not have a year of manufacture on the seal, which is a violation. A certified letter was sent to the owner, notifying them of the new rules and regulations, and time is allowed for a response.

A new manufactured home does not need to be inspected, unless it has a basement or is tied down, because it has passed inspection by the manufacturer. But according to the new Uniform Construction Code, if the next day that house is moved 50 feet, it has to be totally re-inspected. If a structure, even a small one, is added to the MH, it also would require total re-inspection. ##
