Bill of Sale for Manufactured Home may be Manufactured

MHProNews has learned from alabamas13.com a family in Hamilton, Alabama is pleading with the city to allow their manufactured home (MH) to remain in place although it is evidently older than the owner’s bill of sale which says 2006. The city’s ordinance says no home over eight years may be placed, and it must have siding and a front or back porch or a deck. The family of four recently purchased this manufactured home after losing their previous one in a fire, and purchased this one with insurance money. Owner Janet Collum says she showed the bill of sale to the mayor and he approved it, but city attorney and the police chief both allege it is actually older than 2006. Ms. Collum says she was told to move the house immediately or go to jail, and that she is on disability and cannot afford to move it. The family will have to obtain a variance from the planning commission in order to keep the MH where it currently sits on her land. ##
