Applications being Taken for Affordable Modular NYC Units

nycmayorsoffice__credit_gothamist_micro_modular_afordable_apartmentsFollowing a story MHProNews last reported Aug. 11, 2014 regarding an affordable modular housing unit being built in Kips Bay in New York City, applications are now being taken for 14 of the planned 55 modular apartments. Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg had waived zoning regulations at a city-owned property at 337 E. 27th St. to allow for apartments smaller than 450 square feet to be constructed, according to gothamist.

Modular construction company Capsys, based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, is building the 260-360 square-foot units with 9-10 foot ceilings, small balconies, and 16-foot overhead horizontal closets. The building will include a gym, bike storage, a roof terrace, a salon and storage lockers.

Applicants must meet income requirements to qualify for residency in the micro units. ##
