And Now for Something Different…

MSN Real Estate is running a video of the late veteran newscaster Walter Cronkite doing his regular half hour news show in 1967, predicting the rise of home offices in the 21st century. Although several of his devices are larger than what we actually use today, he accurately predicted video conferencing, online news and weather delivery, stock market reports and closed circuit audio/video of the house. Noting that work will come to the house, he said no home will be without “computerized communications console,” but he did not see that the occupant of the home office might just as well be a woman. He did nail the big screen TV in the living room for sports and movies with surround sound, but the disposable dishes you create before the meal and then melt afterward have yet to hit store shelves.
