Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley received the “deluxe tour” of Champion Homes manufacturing operations last week, during a meeting that included a first hand look at new features and product lines for 2017, according to the York News Times.
Leaders from York’s Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau and City Council accompanied Foley during the tour, which included visits with workers who are long time company veterans, some with as many as 30 to 40 years of service.
As many Daily Business News readers are aware, Champion Home Builders was founded in 1953, producing more than 1.7 million factory-built pre-HUD Code mobile homes, post HUD Code manufactured homes and modular homes or buildings throughout the United States, in the United Kingdom and western Canada.
Champion has been a part of the community in York since 1960, providing employment opportunities for generations of York and nearby residents for more than 50 years.
During the tour, team members shared some of the changes they have seen in the industry, including merchandise, building techniques and the ever-increasing expectations of Champion’s customers over the past several decades.
The News Times reports that Mr. Foley was keenly interested in all that Champion is doing to meet this country’s growing need for affordable housing and the inclusion of quality and sustainable manufacturing housing to the Nebraska market.
