Modulars for Dublin Homeless Closer to Completion

Dublin_modular__ireland__irishexaminer__creditContinuing to follow the ongoing saga in Dublin, Ireland where the city council is trying to begin the siting of the first 22 modular homes out of a planned 500, Environment Minister Alan Kelly insists the initial homes will be ready within weeks, offering security to “vulnerable and homeless families.”

Mr Kelly said: “These houses will be delivered by the end of February; furthermore we have another 135 [in Dublin], then we’ll have the 500 [across the rest of the country].”

Speaking at Ballymun where the first 22 were supposed to be ready before Christmas, Kelly noted the delays caused by inclement weather, work stoppage protests and threats of harm against some of the workers, according to what independent.ie tells MHProNews, which last reported on it Jan. 26, 2016.

As he toured one of the units with the Dublin City Council and Labour TD John Lyons, he said it is “better than most homes in Ireland,” adding, “When this is completed, it will be the fastest development of housing in the history of the State.” ##
