New Ordinances for MH Communities One Reading Away

wyoming__laramie__seven_acres__mhp__mhvillage__creditAfter five years of debate and rewriting of manufactured home standards for communities, the Laramie (Wyoming) City Council is one reading away from passing ordinances pertaining to manufactured home communities (MHC), with a final reading set for Dec. 1.

They allow pre-HUD Code homes to be moved within a community, providing they are sited in an area converted for recreational vehicle (RV) use, as laramieboomerang tells MHProNews.. The sale of those MH units is also allowed, as is the change of occupancy. A manufactured home can be used for non-residential purposes; carports and porches are allowed as long as they meet code.

Licenses for MHCs have been extended from one year to two years, and the city must act on an MHC application within 30 days. Any new manufactured homes sited in a community must be skirted. Communities are required to have correct street sign labeling and site numbering to assist first responders.

Provisions that have not changed include MH and RVs cannot be intermingled. RVs cannot remain in RV communities over 180 days, nor can they remain on private residential property more than 14 days. ##
