Texas Legislature Passes Bill to Elevate Modulars

texas_mha___their_creditMHProNews has been informed by Caitlin Nauert of the Texas Manufactured Housing Association (TNHA) the Texas Senate has passed SB 1264 and the House has approved companion bill HB 1990 which will allow multifamily modular construction to be four stories tall instead of the current three stories.

Of the 6,268 bills filed in this session, only 30 passed—28 Senate bills and only two House bills—making the passage a significant legislative success. The measure now goes to the governor where it’s hoped it will be signed into law and become effective Sept. 1, 2015.

TMHA extends its gratitude to the association members and lobby team for their support, and to Keith Alexander, Bert Kessler and Allen McKernie from Palm Harbor Homes who provided essential background information and technical expertise to the effort. ##
