29 Affordable Modular Homes on the Horizon in Minnesota

Plans are afoot in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to convert a seven-acre plot into 29 single-family modular homes, providing the city can find a developer. In order to qualify for a Minnesota Housing Finance Agency grant, the city has to have an option to buy a specific property, and would then facilitate the development of the project, according to trftimes.com. Recent studies have indicated the need for housing for 18-44 year-olds who earn between $15,000 and $75,000 annually. City council instructed City Administrator Larry Kruse to research the possibility of obtaining an option on the seven acres. MHProNews.com has learned a partnership consisting of the city, the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund, the Minnesota Housing Partnership and Homark Homes would work together on the proposal. Kruse said new homeowners would be eligible for grants of $10,000 to $15,000. ##
