21 FEMA MH Near Ready for Occupants in N. Calif.

Calif_fires_9_2015__kgo_tv_creditUpdating the story MHProNews last posted Dec. 12, 2015 regarding the clean-up of debris from the wildfires in northern California, Fire Recovery Coordinator Carol Hutchingson said 21 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) manufactured homes (MH) have been sited in Lake County. Most of them are at Lake Village Estates in Clearlake Oaks, and others are on private property in the Middletown and Hidden Valley Lake areas.

Utility upgrades have to be completed at the some of the home sites, and then FEMA has to finalize the installations, as lakeconews tells MHProNews. Occupants may be able to move in by early February.

Hutchingson said at one time officials were considering placing 40 of the MH at Clearlake, but only about half that many will in fact be needed, as people are finding other housing options. FEMA is connecting the displaced with available rental possibilities in the county.

Noting that debris has been removed from 800 sites, and is continuing at the rate of nearly 20 a day, she said the Community Development Dept. has approved four permits for MH, eleven for site-built homes, six temporary RV permits on private property and 16 new FEMA manufactured home units. It is also reviewing 20 other projects. ##
