“You Can Pay Me Now, or Pay Me Later”

July 10th, 2014 No comments

Every now and then, you get a marketing approach or commercial message that is seemingly 'timeless.'  One that fits that description is the Fram Oil Filter commercial, shown below, first aired in the early 1970s.

The idea behind their message is akin to the adage, "A stitch in time, saves 9." My hunch is not as many people in the U.S. mend their clothes, so perhaps we should say "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Good marketing – combined with sound sales training – are not only money making, they are also money saving.  Remember, good sales training is more than just learning how to do paper work!

Over the years, I've heard 'sales people' say and do some pretty outrageous things. They may or may not realize it, but at least some times, the business' owner or management did finally catch on to the lost sales or disastisfaction and other costs from the poor use of words.   Those costs trace directly back to a lack of the right training and motivation.

The Wrong Words at the Wrong Time

greg-mcclanahan-posted-mhpronews-com-manufactured-modular-housing-retailer-.pngMy friend and MH colleague, Greg McClanahan wrote a fine column, "The Right Words at the Right Time." I totally agree with his thought behind that, and FYI, Greg is a successful MH Retailer out West.

Well, just as there are the right words at the right time, so too there are wrong words at the wrong time.

I've seen the wrong words end up costing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, or in more serious cases, millions.  That can happen from law suits or fines, when the wrong words are used.   To help out on that, we have Nadeen Green, The Fair Housing Lady, who is an attorney share a monthly column, one of many in our Featured Article line up. We have other attorneys who informally share legal insights, all designed to prevent avoidable losses.

But it isn't just using the wrong words that results in fair housing or other charges that can cost you.  There are other forms of false, or even fraudulent statements that can cost a business. Hiring the right people, and training them to say and do the right things, truly pays.

Beyond Legal Liability

But let's set the whole topic of legal liability aside.  The wrong words, sadly, also cost you business!  The reverse is also true. The right words – in marketing and in sales – earns you business.

Professionalism pays. Invest in your people, or it will cost you.

As a proven MH marketer and sales trainer, we can honestly say, "You can pay us now, and earn more later."

Or you can skip the marketing and training, and it will keep costing you until you make the right investment. The choice is yours, and you make it day by day, through action or inaction. ##

What’s CRM? How Can it Make Your Location(s) more Money in 2014?

January 12th, 2014 3 comments

The value of CRM is demonstrated by the fact that hundreds of thousands of companies of all sizes in the U.S. use it to grow their business and improve their bottom lines. Our company doesn't sell CRM services, but we recommend it's use to the majority of our client's. So lets's answer a few common questions about CRM, you and your operation.

crm-word-cloud-300x216.jpgWhat is CRM?

Because we promote its use in articles, at live events and in training, a common question we get is what is CRM?

CRM is short for Customer Relationship Management. Briefly, CRM is software that when properly used helps a company's professionals stay in touch with prospects and customers.

Why use CRM?

Bluntly, because using CRM makes you more money! Common statistics are that proper CRM use will increase your business 15%-25% or more. When you consider the modest cost, this is a real no brainer.

CRM also protects your marketing investment! Most sales or leasing people can handle no more than 20-40 prospects using paper or manual notes. If you are getting a volume of leads or walk in customers, CRM use protects the dollars you are investing to bring those customers in.

Respected JD Powers and Associates studies are among those that point out the common sense fact that those who stay in touch with their customers greatly increase the odds of doing business.

I emphasize using CRM properly, because some may have CRM, yet fail to use it. Don't waste your money that way! If you get it, or have it, then use it.free_crm_systems.jpg

And if you have CRM, and don't like your current system, then why not see what else is available?

Why CRM in MH is More Important Now than Previously

In the Dodd-Frank/CFPB regulations era, CRM is arguably even more important now than previously. Why?

Because studies show that cash or good credit customers tend to shop 90-180 days in advance. They have cash or good credit in part precisely because they plan ahead. Those who stay in touch with those prospects are far more likely to close them than those who have a hit or miss approach.

Improve our Industry’s Image the easy way by Sharing the Facts!

September 22nd, 2013 No comments

Let's keep this short and sweet. Do you think our industry's image can improve? You do…I think so too! One of the many false 'tags' on our industry has to do with the myth that we blow away with the first big wind.

That is a myth that is far from the truth, as the video linked below PROVES.

manufactured-home-hit-by-tornado-and-high-winds-posted-cutting-edge-blog-mhpronews-com-.png

http://ManufacturedHomeLivingNews.com/dramatic-video-of-a-manufactured-home-hit-by-a-tornado-and-high-winds/

The pace of views on this video, which has been online or about a year, is heating up in the last 2 months! It is already one of the top manufactured housing informational videos online, and with good reason.

Take 2 and do this,

  • share the link of this video with everyone you know in the manufactured housing industry. They need to know the facts as much or more as the general public does.
  • Then, share the link to the page with the video with everyone else!

STOP AND THINK

How many hundreds of thousands of more people would be considering a manufactured home if they didn't have this false narrative in their heads about our homes blowing away at the first puff of air?

There is NOTHING more powerful than SEEING WITH YOUR OWN EYES the truth.

The facts on the video ought to be memorized by any manufactured housing pro.

Sharing is how we can make this old myth die, and when that myth dies the quality and quantity of your prospects at communities and sales centers will go up. Fight the myths by sharing the facts. It is just that simple.

Now, just do it. ##
