Support or Oppose a President?

In the light of recent feedback about MHI’s president and the related discussions, it is timely to consider some words of President Teddy Roosevelt.

Career Captain and Deadlines

Every man is captain of his career and there must be cooperation all around if he is to get what he wants out of life.”  – Walt Disney

Everyone needs deadlines. If we didn’t have deadlines, we’d stagnate.”  – Walt Disney

There is a hunger in MH for knowledge, understanding and growth.

The top image on the photos at the left is a stock photo, but the one below it, an actual SRO (Standing Room Only) photo from one of those educational events we’ve been privileged to be a part of in MH.

For the hundred or so people packed in that room, there are some 40 to 50+ times that number daily who comes to MHProNews.com.

They come looking for MH Industry News, Tips and Views Pros Can Use ©. Nothing else in MH trade news comes close.

 We All Need Inspiration!

people often say that motivation doesnt last well neither does bathing, which is why we recommend it daily - zig ziglar-posted-cuttingedgeblog-mhpronews-com

At the fine recent FL MHA meeting, they had an inspirational speaker to start their day. That’s part of a fine professional educational plan!

Zig Ziglar is right, we need motivation daily, and that’s one reason why we have inspirational articles, this INspiration blog, the Words of Wisdom blog, etc..

As our friend, colleague and supporter, John Bostick at Sunshine Homes says, “Easy doesn’t pay well.” It isn’t the McDonald’s ‘easy’ that pays. Most of those who wanted ‘easy’ left MH years ago. The forward thinkers and doers, they are the fuel our industry needs to progress.  MH may not be as ‘easy’ today as in the go-go 90s, but there are some who are more profitable today than they were then.  They are routinely those who invest in their careers and businesses, including training and motivation.

Many thanks to each of you for your respective role in the growing world of MH. Together, we advance. Tally-ho!

Tony

Home For Christmas

December 19th, 2014 No comments

One of the most powerful images of home are during the holidays, and Christmas for billions stands at the pinnacle for those visual and musical memories. Let’s share are few Christmas music videos, with a sincere and hearty Merry Christmas from our family to you and your loved ones.

George Canyon Home for Christmas (Official Music Video)

We wish our Jewish friends and colleagues a Happy Hanukkah as well.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel – BYU Vocal Point

We hope these videos will refresh your Christmas and home-for-the-holidays spirit.

Rascal Flatts – I’ll Be Home for Christmas – Official Music Video

God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen – BYU Vocal Point [Official Video]

For those of us involved in the quality, affordable housing profession, one might reflect for a few moments that The Christmas story ought to have compelling connections. The Creator-Child’s parents find “no room at the inn.” Before beginning the Divine mission, Jesus grows up doing carpenter work, building homes.

From all of us to you and yours, Merry Christmas.

Practicing to Perfection

Pablo Casals, the famous Spanish cellist who lived to be 97 years of age, when he reached 95, a young reporter threw him a question: “Mr. Casals, you are 95 and the greatest cellist that ever lived. Why do you still practice six hours a day?”

And Mr. Casals answered, Because I think I’m making progress.” ##

Use what makes you Different to your Advantage

It goes without saying. We are all different. We may share much in common, but it is differences that set us apart.  Learn to use what makes you different in a positive way.  Learn the lesson Timothy Q. Mouse shared with Dumbo to make him embrace those huge ears in the Disney movie classic.

Feeling vs. Thinking

March 14th, 2014 No comments

We humans are beings who both feel and think. While thinking is respected in many circles, emotions are what entertainers, marketing, sales professionals, politicos, the media and so many others often target.

We have both emotion and reason, because we should use both.

Successful professionals learn to manage both emotions and sound reason.

Here are some thoughts on the subject.

"When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudice and motivated by pride and vanity."

– Dale Carnagie

"Against logic there is no armor like ignorance."

– Laurence J. Peter

Sometimes-in-life-one-experiences-an-emotion-which-is-so-strong-difficult-to-think-or-to-reason-eric-cantona-(c)2014-MHProNews-com

"We especially need imagination in science. It is not all mathematics, nor all logic, but it is somewhat beauty and poetry."

– Maria Montessori

"I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few."

– Adolf Hitler

"Sometimes in life one experiences an emotion which is so strong that it is difficult to think, or to reason."

– Eric Cantona

It isn't what we don't know that gives us trouble, it's what we know that ain't so."

– Will Rogers

"Emotions have taught mankind to reason."

– Luc de Clapiers

All too often, we've all seen those who gave up too easily. Maybe we have done so ourselves. These two Vince Lombardi quotes reminds us to set high goals, and to then have the determination to go for the grand prize of success.

"Winners never quit and quitters never win."

Vince Lombardi

"Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence."

Vince Lombardi

Another Key to Success

October 13th, 2013 No comments

If you walked into a restaurant and the server didn't know the menu well, you'd be concerned or miffed.  If even a good restaurant you liked looked the same now as it did twenty years ago and served nothing new or different, you might be looking for another restaurant.

Study your product and service routinely.  See how it can be improved.  Check out this related article in Manufactured Home Living News, Professionalism, the KYPs and Manufactured Housing.##
