INspiration

Motivation and Inspiration!

There are few things more motivating than a truly fine live event. I've read great books and articles, watched great videos and have also listened to 'inspirational' and motivating audio.

But a good live event gives you the energy of the crowd as well as the speaker(s). It is like the difference between an dead restaurant and one that is buzzing with energy!

The most motivating thing you are likely to be able to do is to go to the Louisville Manufactured Housing Show! Starting with the special Pre-Show Get the Edge event on January 22nd, and moving onto the main show that runs from January 23 until midday on January 25th, you want to come early and stay late every day.

Here is your link to the main LouisvilleManufacturedHousingShow.com website:

Here is your link to the show brochure, including seminars, exhibitors, homes on display and much, much more!

Zig Ziglar once said words to the effect, sure, you need regular doses of motivation. You also have to shower or bathe regularly too! We will be in booth #115 at Louisville, because it motivates us to motivate good pros like you! ##

Festival of Lights – Hanukkah

MHProNews would like to wish our Jewish friends, industry colleagues, supporters and readers a Happy Hanukkah.

According to Wikipedia:

Hanukkah (pronounced hah-nə-kə ;[1][2][3] Hebrew: חֲנֻכָּה, Tiberian: Ḥănukkāh, usually spelled חנוכה, pronounced [χanuˈka] in Modern Hebrew; a transliteration also romanized as Chanukah, Chanukkah or Chanuka), also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century BCE. Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar.

The festival is observed by the kindling of the lights of a unique candelabrum, the nine-branched Menorah or Hanukiah, one additional light on each night of the holiday, progressing to eight on the final night. The typical Menorah consists of eight branches with an additional raised branch. The extra light is called a shamash (Hebrew: שמש, "attendant") and is given a distinct location, usually above or below the rest. The purpose of the shamash is to have a light available for use, as using the Hanukkah lights themselves is forbidden. ##

He escaped Socialism, now he wants to save America

FoxNews and NPR have both featured stories about Thomas Peterffy. Fox said Peterffy created "one of the more personal ads of the 2012 campaign." On TV and online, his video warns against socialism while "urging America to vote Republican."

Quoting Fox:

"In the video, Peterffy recalls his childhood under socialism in Hungary, and says, "The nation became poorer and poorer. And that's what I see happening here." He warns that the United States, his adopted country, is embarking on a "slippery slope."

He continues: "America's wealth comes from the efforts of people striving for success. Take away their incentive with badmouthing success and you take away the wealth that helps us take care of the needy. Yes, in socialism the rich will be poorer — but the poor will also be poorer. People will lose interest in really working hard and creating jobs."

The ad doesn't mention the president or former Governor Mitt Romney. But the fact that he is investing millions of his own dollars in a message that echoes our Masthead blog column, Course Correction should make undecided or left leaning professionals in our industry take notice.

Peterffy founded Interactive Brokers. Forbes estimates his net worth at $4.6 billion. Peterffy is the political opposite of the more famous Hungarian-born billionaire, George Soros, known to support left wing causes and Barack Obama.

Peterffy has been interviewed by NPR for his role in popularizing electronic and online trading to securities

Thomas Peterffy was born in Hungary in 1944 and came to the United States in 1965. He learned English here, eventually launched Interactive Brokers in 1993 and lives in Greenwich, CN.

For those who have watched the first two debates, you will understand the following and how it relates to the above.

Clint Eastwood said it well. It is okay to let President Obama go. Register and vote Republican. Get your circle to do the same. Your company, job and a brighter future all depend on it. ##

Habit Forming

First you form your habits, then your habits form you. This maxim is a powerful truism. It cuts to the heart of why forward looking manufactured housing businesses and associations are or should be focused on developing the best habits, perceptions and beliefs of their team members.

In working with many companies in ownership, consulting, leadership or outreach roles, I've seen over the years numerous examples of people in our Industry – working in organizations like yours – that did not fully believe in our product. The doubting team person or their supervisor may not have realized how their perception impacted their work.

But it does.

One's perceptions always impacts what we say, and what we do. So perceptions influence our habits. Habits form the person. The person's habits forms their activity. Those activities produce – or not – the desired results.

Why does one company in a market do better than another?

Why does one person in a company do better than another?

Arguably, the better the perceptions and the better the habits, the better the performance. It really is as simple as that.

This is why identifying and forming the right perceptions and the right habits – the right activities done the proper way – creates better results for some than others.

So as owners, leaders and managers, if you want success, you want to develop and implement positive perceptions and proven systems which are habit forming. By forming the right habits, then you form the right results. ##
